Impaired driver from West Perth had a child in the vehicle

A West Perth resident charged with impaired driving had a child in the vehicle at the time, police said.

Provincial police officers received a complaint about a suspected impaired driver at 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 28 in Huron East.

Police said they spoke to the driver who had consumed alcohol prior to getting behind the wheel and was subsequently arrested for impaired operation. A child passenger was in the vehicle at the time of arrest.

Breath samples provided to police at Clinton detachment showed readings over twice the legal limit.

The 35-year-old is also charged with dangerous operation.

The vehicle involved was towed and impounded for seven days, and a 90-day license suspension was implemented.
