Second degree murder charges more than a year after two people died in collision

An 18-year-old from North Perth has been charged with two counts of second degree murder.

Perth OPP said the charges stem from a motor vehicle collision on Oct. 4, 2025 when two people, ages 72 and 75, died as a result of injuries sustained when their passenger vehicle was in a collision with a pickup truck on Perth Line 86 in North Perth.

The pickup truck driver had non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the driver was arrested on Wednesday and charged under the Criminal Code. Charges will be addressed in court at a later date. Because the accused was a youth at the time of the incident, their name is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act and will not be released.

Anyone with any information related to the investigation is asked to contact Perth OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers.
