Perth County declares significant weather event, Festival Hydro crews work on three outages

Update: There are no power outages reported in Stratford by Festival Hydro as of Monday, Dec. 29 at 7 a.m.

Challenging winter weather conditions on Sunday, Dec. 28, led Perth County to declare a significant weather event.

Parts of the county were under Environment Canada alerts for rain and freezing rain. The county said road conditions deteriorated and temperatures are expected to drop overnight with snowfall expected Monday and Tuesday.

The county said these types of winter events may affect its ability to maintain county roads at the service level that road users would normally expect.

Festival Hydro, the city of Stratford’s power provider, had three outages on their map on Sunday night at 7:30 p.m., impacting 64 customers. Impacted areas were on Nelsen Street, Grant Street and Shakespeare Street.

Environment Canada issued a snowfall watch for Stratford and parts of Perth County for Monday, with blizzard conditions.
