Volunteerism report released

The United Way Perth-Huron’s Social Research and Planning Council has released its report on volunteerism.

It says things could be better.

The report says that while volunteer participation rates in Perth and Huron County are higher than the national average, 84% of not-for-profits surveyed reported that they never have enough volunteers.

People surveyed who don’t volunteer cited a lack of time as the main reason why they can’t get involved.

You can find more information about the report, entitled The Heart of Community: A report on Volunteerism in Perth and Huron Counties, at  www.socialresearchandplanning.ca or by calling 519 271-7730 or 1-877-818-8867.
