Groulx, Mabel (Ebel)

Mabel Amelia Groulx, age 85, formerly of Seebachs Hill passed away peacefully at the Chartwell Gardens, Aylmer, Ontario on Thursday January 23, 2014.

Starting at the age of 15, Mabel worked as a Cutter at Ballantyne’s Knitting Mill for 7 years. Then after the birth of her two children she began working at Canadian Fabricated Products as a Cutter and was later promoted to Lead Hand. Mabel retired from there after 24 years of service.

On Aug 31, 1950, in St. Joseph’s Church, Mabel Ebel married Marcel Groulx and became his beloved wife for 56 years. She was the dear mother of Maureen and Jack Dearing of Mitchell, and Gary and Alice Groulx of Springfield, ON. Mabel will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren Rob and wife Kim Dearing, Susan Hand and Mark Denunzio, Mike Dearing, Steve and Rebecca Dearing, Chad and Diane Groulx, Nathan Groulx; step-grandchildren: Tonya & Glen Seddan, and Heather and Rob Mikkelsen. She will also be missed by great-grandchildren: Eric, Emily and Ethan Dearing, Liam, Cameron and Kaitlyn Hand, Heather, Amberleigh and Bradley Dearing; and Sebatian Groulx, and step-great-grandchildren Mikayla and Jacob Seddan, Amber, Zach, and Isabella Mikkelsen.

Mabel is survived by one sister, Donna Csonto, and sisters-in-law Ruth Ebel, and Harold Smitjes, Louise St Jean, Bette and Don Wakevainen, Rachelle Groulx, ReJeanne Groulx, Rita and Russell Cook, Andy Groulx and Joan, and Anita Groulx.

Mabel was predeceased by her parents Herman and Minnie (Frost) Ebel, brothers and sisters and their spouses, Ernie Ebel, Bill and June Ebel, Betty (Tozer) Ebel, Bob Ebel, Emmanuel Benneweis (Grace), Grace Smitjes, Jim Csonto, and Jim Ebel. Also predeceased by brothers-in-law and sisters-in law Maurice Groulx, Jeanne and Paul Gauthier, Emmanuel St Jean, Angeline and Joe Burns, Oscar Groulx, Collette Groulx, Eveline Groulx, Louie Groulx, Therese Groulx, Lorraine Groulx, and by Lucien, and Therese Groulx in infancy.

Friends and relatives are invited to a visitation at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron St., Stratford on Monday January 27th from 7-9 p.m. Interment will be in Astorville Cemetery in the Spring.
