Skinner, Florence

Florence Skinner, 93, of RR1, Mitchell passed away at St. Marys Memorial Hospital on Sunday, January 26, 2014.

Beloved wife of Bryce Skinner.  Dear mother of Shirley Carter and John of Sarnia, Kirk Skinner and Ruth of Strathroy, Larry Skinner and Nancy of Listowel, Leroy Skinner and Bonnie of RR1, Mitchell and Jane De Block and Tim of RR2, Staffa.  Loving grandmother of 16 grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Dear sister-in-law of Helen Banting, Beth Ferguson and Shirley Douglas. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her parents Roy and Lula Kirk, sister Lorna Kirk, sister-in-law Dorothy Vogan, brothers-in-law Lindsay Vogan, Carl Banting, Ian Ferguson and Cameron Douglas.

Florence was an elementary school teacher until her marriage in 1951. She loved and was deeply involved in the life of her family in addition to being an active member of her church and the community.

Friends will be received at the Lockhart Funeral Home, 109 Montreal St., Mitchell on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Nancy Knowles officiating. A reception will follow at the Lockhart Reception Centre. Spring interment in Bethel Munro Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Canadian Food Grains Bank or charity of one’s choice would be appreciated.  Online condolences at www.LockhartFuneralHome.com.
