Herman Van Bakel, 88, of Mitchell passed away peacefully at the Ritz Lutheran Villa, Mitchell on Friday, November 28, 2014.
Beloved husband of Peta Van Bakel of 61 years. Dear father of John and Marg, Casey and Mary Anne, Peter and Liz, Jim and Marg, Martin, Paul and Karen, Bill and Sue. Loving grandfather of 19 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Dear brother of Anna Rongen and Harry Van Bakel. Dear brother-in-law of Til Van Bakel. Also surviving are his nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents Cornelius and Maria Van Bakel, son Harvey, nine brothers and two sisters.
Friends will be received at the Lockhart Funeral Home, 109 Montreal St., Mitchell on Monday, December 1, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Dublin on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Clare Coleman – Celebrant. Spring interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Dublin.
