Charlton, Gladys

Gladys Alma Charlton passed away at the La Pointe-Fisher Nursing Home, in Guelph on January 7th, 2015 Beloved wife of the late John Charlton. Sister to Jessie Pratt (Murray) and the late Bonnie Hofsess (Fred), Lorene King (Bill), Eva Warwick (Roy) and her brother Maurice Moore. Mother to Cathy Freeman (George) and Rick Charlton (Gerda).  Fondly remembered by her grandchildren, Marc Charlton (Jen), Scott Charlton (Nella), Melissa Freeman, John Freeman and  great grandchildren Cameron Charlton, Dalen Charlton, Spencer Charlton and Tess Charlton.   She will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews. She continually talked about the friends she made at Towers in Stratford, fondly remembered her time as a leader of the Brownies at Parkview United Church and appreciated receiving a life-time membership to the United Church Women’s group. She took an early retirement from Towers to care for her ailing husband.  She lived on Gordon Street for over 50 years until she had to move to Guelph due to declining health. Friends and relatives may call at the James A. Rutherford funeral home at 156 Albert Street, Stratford on Friday, January 9, 2015 from 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 4 p.m. at the funeral home, interment in Avondale Cemetery to follow. As expressions of sympathy memorial donations may be made to Crohn’s and Colitis Canada or to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada through the funeral home at 519-271-5062. www.jarfh.com
