Schultz, Alvin

Called peacefully into his eternal rest, on his 76th birthday, at his home in Milverton on January 30, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Ellice Township and was the son of the late Mahlon & Elizabeth (Lichti) Schultz.

Beloved husband of Irene (Gingerich) Schultz who he married May 23, 1959. Loving father of Evelyn & Kelly McAllister of Townsend, Jay Schultz & Sandra Thompson of Milverton, Gregory & Pamela Schultz of New Hamburg. Sadly missed by his grandchildren Nicole, Melissa, Stephen, Matthew, Jacob, Emily, Isaac and Emma. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Reta Schumm of Tavistock, Mary Ropp, Herbert & Shirley Schultz all of New Hamburg, Katherine & Donald Snyder of Waterloo, David & Marilyn Schultz of Milverton, Phyllis & husband Ron Gropp of Wellesley, Elroy & Hilda Gingerich of New Hamburg, Harold & Reta Gingerich of Baden, Viola & Jock McGillivary of Ferndale, WA, Leola Roth of Baden. Remembered by a number of nieces and nephews. Alvin was predeceased by brothers-in-law Daniel Schumm, Stanley Ropp and Elmer Roth.

Alvin was a founding and active member of Milverton Mennonite Fellowship where he served in many different capacities. Alvin fulfilled many roles in the transportation industry with Erb Transport and with Ayr Coach Lines for many years.

Cremation has taken place. Family and friends will be received at a memorial visitation at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 7 Spencer Street, Milverton on Saturday, February 1, 2014 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.. The memorial service to celebrate Alvin’s life will take place on Sunday, February 2, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Milverton Mennonite Fellowship 6619 Perth Road 131, Milverton with Pastor Mike Wiebe officiating. Spring interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Milverton. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to Milverton Mennonite Fellowship, Mennonite Central Committee or Canadian Cancer Society.
