Holman, Luella

After a courageous struggle with Leukemia, Luella Marie Holman passed away on January 11, 2015 at Stratford General Hospital in her 88th year.  Beloved mother of Carilyn Gumz and Ronald Holman; grandmother of Karina (Maxum) Carpenter, Andrea (Jason) Dietrich and Alexander (Adrienne) Gumz; great grandmother to Eddie, Thomas and Luella Carpenter and Helena and Ayla Dietrich.  Also surviving are brothers Jack Pehlke; Ken (Rosemary) Pehlke; sisters in law Betty, Beth, Leola Pehlke; brother in law Harry Stroh; cousins; and many nieces and nephews.  Luella was born in Elma Township and lived the majority of her live in Stratford.

She was predeceased by parents Edward and Louise (Schmidt) Pehlke; sisters Helen, Emaline, Eileen and Edna; brothers Lloyd, Carl, Elmer and Norman; and son in law Horst Gumz.

In her retirement Luella enjoyed being at her cottage at Port Albert, travelling, knitting, quilting, volunteering and most specially time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The family thanks Dr. Brooks, Dr. McCarron, nursing staff 3E SGH and CCAC for their compassionate care over the past months.  Luella is resting at W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron St., Stratford. Family and friends are welcome from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm on Tuesday, January 13.  The funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, January 14 at St. Peters Lutheran Church, 142 Cambria Street, Stratford.  Interment will be at Stratford Avondale Cemetery.
