Rose Olivier Billo (nee Betts)

February 6 1920 – March 5 2015

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rose Olivier Billo. She passed away at Stratford General Hospital on Thursday, March 5 2015 with family at her side. Predeceased by her husband Donald Billo in 1976, a daughter Donna Billo in 2012, son in-law Roger Galway in 2013, siblings May, Winnie, Harry and Donald and parents Louisa (nee Smith) and Joseph “Harry” Betts. Survived by a sister Nell Green, Stratford, son Raymond Billo (Janet), Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, daughter Joanne Welsh, Kitchener, daughter Linda Phillips, (Joe), Vancouver, British Columbia, daughter Rose “Rodie” Sippel (Wayne), Stratford and sister in-law Marg Billo, Stratford. Also survived by 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was member of St Andrews Presbyterian Church, Stratford. Through the years Rose has been employed at Koehler’s, Flex Steel, as a nurse’s aide at Stratford Hospital, Walkers Department Store and the Metropolitan Store downtown Stratford. She volunteered her time with Girl Guides, St John’s Ambulance, blood donor clinic, Optimism Place, Meals on Wheels, and Tele Care throughout her life. Rose was also a member of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Branch  #8, Stratford, the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 134 for 42 years and District Deputy Grand Matron of District 20-055.A very special thank you to the nursing staff at Stratford General Hospital for their kindness, and loving care they gave Rose, to Lynda Evans for the love and kindness given to Rose during her stay in hospital. Also a big thank you to the Environmental Services Department and Nutrition and Food Service Department at Stratford General Hospital. Visitation at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Wednesday, March 11, from 12 noon until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. The Legion Ladies Auxiliary will hold a service prior to the start of the funeral.
