Lawrence, Gertrude

Gertrude Ellen Lawrance age 96 passed on February 10, 2014 at her residence, Greenwood Court Stratford. Born in Stratford on March 8, 1917, the daughter of the late Walter and Florence (Elliott) Carr. Predeceased by her husband James B Lawrence 1967. Survived by her loving children Bernie (Gloria) Lawrance, Brenda (Ken) Wagler and Myrt Hearn. Fondly remembered by her 8 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Survived by sister Bernice Player and brother-in-law and wife George and Winifred Lawrance. Family was first on the list for mother. Her three children; she would do anything for. Mother had many good years at the family cottage on Lake Huron. There was some great times with family and friends, many a card game, beach times and of course food. Mother loved her sports, Hockey, Baseball on T.V. or down to the arena to see the Cullitons or to follow her grandchildren in their favorite sport. Gert would go to the race track to follow the likes of “Grandma Gert” a trotter named after her. Gert and her card club friends got together for over fifty years, the girls all became such good friends. Gert was a life time member of Knox Presbyterian Church (Stratford). Mother was a longtime FRAM Canada employee. Gert for many years looked after and arranging bus trips for fellow employees, such as outings to Orillia, Niagara Falls, and shopping trips to Toronto. The family would like to sincerely thank the wonderful staff at Greenwood Court for the exceptional care of their mother. Besides her parents and husband Gert was predeceased by a daughter Elizabeth in infancy, a sister Florence Gladding and brothers Gordon, Norman and Tom Carr a  son-in-law Barry Hearn and brother-in-laws Fred Lawrance, Art Lawrance, Walter Gladding, Clarence Player and Dick Patasini also sister-in-laws Gladys Patasini and Edna Lawrance. There will be no funeral home visitation. A private Family service will be held at the W. G. Young Funeral Home 430 Huron Street., Stratford, ON.  Gert and her families’ wishes are for her to be remembered, and that those who have memories of her will celebrate those memories in their hearts or in their own way.
