McTavish, James

James Alexander “Sandy” McTavish, age 66, passed away suddenly on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at Stratford General Hospital. Born in Kitchener, son of the late Peter and Dorla (McKay) McTavish. Survived by his best friend and wife of over 35 years Gina (Arnstowski) McTavish. Cherished father of Lynsie McTavish (Dom Giagnocavo) and Sarah McTavish. Very proud grandfather to Benjamin and Calem McTavish-Giagnocavo. Sandy is survived by his brother John McTavish and friend Karen, sister Heather (Miguel) Zabalgoitia along with sister-in-law Rita Kohler and brothers-in-law Gary (Vicki) Arnstowski and Kurt Arnstowski. Sandy will be remembered by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, Sandy was predeceased by his mother and father-in-law Bruno and Ada Arnstowski.  Sandy was very active in the Stratford and Granton Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Lodge, Member of the Stratford-on-Avon Shrine Club and Mocha Temple. Sandy loved his motorcycle and was a proud member of the Widows Sons Motor Cycle Club as well as a piper with the Stratford Police Pipes and Drums Band. Before retirement Sandy was employed with A. O. Smith as a Shipper and Receiver for 30 years. Friends and relatives may call at the W. G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Thursday, April 16, 2015 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. A Masonic Lodge Service will be held on Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m.  The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, April 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. As expressions of sympathy memorial donations may be made to Juvenile Diabetes or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario through the funeral home.
