Mitchell, Clarence

Clarence Frederick Mitchell, passed away peacefully in his sleep at People Care Stratford in his 98th year on February 17,  2014.  Son of the Late Jeffrey Mitchell and Clara Mitchell (Tribick).  He was predeceased by his True Love Frances Mitchell to whom he was married to for 75 years. Grandfather to Kirk Dunneman (Christine), Kelly Sue Eynon and great-grandfather of Brandon, Nicki and Tyson.  Clarence will be sadly missed by his loving nieces and nephews, Maurice Mitchell, Bill and Barbara (Mitchell) Wettlaufer, Jane Marie Mitchell and Brenda Bakes (Ernie), his step sister Margaret (Tribick) Lott along with several other cherished nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and his wife, he was predeceased by his daughter Sharon Dunneman, brothers Bill, Art, and Rob and two sisters Anne Taylor and Edith Quast, and step brother Harry Tribick. Clarence made deliveries for a local drug store on his bicycle and worked for many years at Cooper Standard. In his younger years Clarence was a member of the Stratford Boys Band and he was an avid ball player and curler.  He was also a Life-time member of the Gadshill Sportsmen Club and a Life-time member of the Odd Fellows Lodge # 41.  The family would like to express sincere appreciation to the staff at People Care Stratford for the wonderful care and compassion given to Uncle Clarence.  Also thank you to Dr. Martin and the Avon Medical team of Doctors for their care and concern. Friends and relatives may call at the W. G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron St. Stratford on Thursday February 20th from 7 – 9 pm and on Friday February 21st from 10 am until the time of the funeral service at 11 am.  Reception to follow.  Interment will be in Avondale Cemetery.  As expressions of sympathy memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stoke Foundation, St. John’s United Church or the charity of your choice through the funeral home www.wgyoungfuneralhome.com or 519-271-7411
