Montgomery, Doris

Doris Elma Edna Montgomery, age 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Spruce Lodge, Stratford on May 11, 2015.  She was born in Stratford, January 4, 1930 daughter of the late Herman and Wilhelmina Greve. Beloved wife of the late Leo Montgomery who predeceased her in 2010. Loving mother of Ed, Gary (Ruth), Bob (Cindy), Joy, Joe (Mary) and Mark (Leanne). Grandmother of Christopher (David), Emily, Bradley (Kyla), Steven (April), Rachael, Lisa, Anya and Mira Henderson, Jessica Kay (Graeme), Nicholas Weekes (Amanda), Joshua Weekes (Arcelia) and Jacqueline Edwards (Joshua). Great grandmother to 20 great grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by a son Joseph Montgomery and his wife Mary in 2012, and siblings Jacob, Carl, Harry, Jean, Viola, Edgar, Margaret and Roy Greve (Joan),  Cordelia Broadfoot (Earl) and Evelyn Cucksey (Ray). Doris graduated from Chicago School of Nursing and moved to Toronto. While working as an RNA at Toronto General Hospital she met her husband Leo and they came to Stratford and raised 6 children. Doris was a volunteer with the CNR Pensioners, Lakeside Seniors Association, St. John’s Ambulance and Zion Lutheran Church, where she was a member for many years. Friends and relatives may call at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Wednesday, May 13, from 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday, May 14 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 202 Erie Street, Stratford from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Rev. Jeff Laustsen will officiate. Interment will follow at Avondale Cemetery.
