McKay, Barbara

Barbara Edith McKay, age 89, of Stratford passed away peacefully at the Stratford General Hospital on Saturday February 22, 2014.

Born in Lakeside, daughter of the late Reginald and Kathleen (Braithwaite) Williams. Barbara enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Stratford District Horticultural Society. She was a lifelong member of the Avonton Presbyterian Church.

Beloved wife of the late Hugh McKay whom she married on September 29, 1945. Loving mother of Edith Stevens (Bill), Doris Jones (John), Eva Devenport (John), Margaret West and Lynn O’Hearn. Cherished grandmother of Rob Stevens, Dale Stevens (Erica), Michael Stevens (Shanna), Jonathan Jones (Heather), Ashley Jones, Kyle Jones (Amy), Marty West, Katie West (Roddy), Mikyla O’Hearn (Chris) and Erin O’Hearn (Michael). Great grandmother of Cohen, Myles, Caroline, Avery, Gavin and Chloe.

Dear sister of Isabel Quinton (Roy), Joyce Strasser, Marjorie Vanstone (Don), Betty Bendall (Bob) and sister-in-law Vivian Williams. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and their families.

Predeceased by son Allan McKay in infancy, brothers Frank Williams, Lloyd Williams, sister Mary Laing (Graydon), brothers-in-law Howard “Pat” Strasser, Homer McKay (Doris) and sister-in-law Jean Irvine (Bob).

Friends and relatives may call at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron St., Stratford on Tuesday February 25th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday February 26th at 2 p.m. Rev. Catherine Calkin will officiate. Reception to follow.
