Walkom, Brian

Brian David Walkom, age 59, of Stratford passed away peacefully with his family by his side after a short but courageous battle with lung cancer on May 17, 2015.  Born in Stratford on September 16, 1955, he was the son of the late Anna (Woelfle) and Cecil Walkom. Brian will be deeply missed by his wife and best friend Dianne (Switzer) of 38 years whom he married on May 7, 1977.  Loving and devoted father to his daughters Elizabeth Jezard and husband Shawn, and Becky and fiancĂ© Ross Aldworth.  Brian will be warmly remembered by many friends and relatives, and especially by the members of the Revised Edition Band. Brian started his sales career at Boyd Rickert Shoes (White Balmer) and Beltone Hearing Aids in Perth County.  Brian enjoyed almost 30 years in car sales and management at Kalbfleisch Brothers (Chrysler) in Stratford.   He was dedicated to making his customers happy, whether new, used, or trade-in.  From 2000-2005, he owned and operated Thrifty Car Rentals.  Brian continued his love of cars with Gary Stockie Chev Olds in both Stratford and Kitchener, and later at Perth Auto Dismantlers.  Brian began his semi-retirement by delivering for EB Express. Brian is also survived by his brother Bruce and wife Pauline and their children, Andrew and Sarah; and by sister-in-law Grace Ferguson and husband Kevin and their children, Andrew and fiancĂ© Samantha Beneteau, Nicholas, and Curtis. Friends and relatives may call at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Friday, May 22 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow.
