Von Euw, Joseph

Joseph Paul Von Euw, age 79, passed away at the Stratford General Hospital on Sunday, May 24, 2015, with his life partner of 56 years, Wendy, at his side. Joe was born in Sattel, Schwyz, Switzerland son of the late Alois and Rosa Von Euw. Joe came to Canada with his family in 1949 and had lived in Stratford where he was employed at Copper Bessemer as a machinist for many years. He and Wendy later owned and operated Turf Guard Lawn Care in London for 20 years, until moving back to Stratford where he maintained the grounds at W. G. Young Funeral Home until his retirement. Beloved husband of Wendy Ellen Miller whom he married October 17, 1959 at St. Joseph’s Church, Stratford. Loving father of Patricia Fleming (Allan Taylor), Pamela Atkinson (David Shpilt), Paul Von Euw (deceased 2003). Dear grandfather of Tarra Fleming (Garrett), Jeffrey Fleming (Becky), Nathan Huard (Melissa), Breanna Atkinson, Quinton Atkinson. Great grandfather of Brandon, Courtney, Colin, Miles, Zachary. Brother of Louis Von Euw (Theresa). Brother in law of Mike and Pat Miller, John and Jill MacDuff, Sally Miller. Also survived by several nieces and nephews and their families. Besides his parents he was predeceased by brothers Jonas, Frank, Toni and Hans Von Euw.  Friends and relatives may call at the W. G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron St., Stratford on Wednesday, May 27 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. followed by a reception. As expressions of sympathy memorial donations may be made to the Stratford Community Food Centre or Stratford General Hospital Foundation and may be made through the funeral home. www.wgyoungfuneralhome.com
