Dennis Gerald Hinz passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at the age of 61 after a brave battle with cancer. Raised in Logan Township by his loving parents Edna Hinz (formerly Strickard) and the late Ezra Hinz (March 1980). Dennis is the beloved husband of Debora Jean Hinz (Kemp) whom he married on August 27, 1977. Deb feels truly blessed to have had 38 wonderful years with the love of her life, soul mate and her pillar of strength.  Dennis was predeceased by their infant daughter, Amber Dawn Hinz (Feb. 12, 1983). Dennis was a loving and devoted father to Tyler Gordon Ezra Hinz of Kitchener and Katrina Jean Cook and husband Joseph Seibert Cook of Baden. His strength, dedication and ambition will continue to inspire and motivate them. Dennis was the proud and adoring grandfather of Keegan Gordon Metcalf as well as his number one hockey fan. Dennis enjoyed spending time with family, travelling, curling, camping, attending music concerts, cheering on his grandson’s Kitchener Jr. Rangers team, the Blue Jays, Maple Leafs, Vikings and simply loving life. Dennis was employed by the Province of Ontario, Land Registry Office as the Land Registrar of Waterloo Region. He retired after 35 years of dedicated service. Dennis continued to follow his passion building houses by graduating from the Home Inspection course at Conestoga College and creating Hinz Homes Ltd. He took pride in building quality homes in his retirement. He enjoyed being a member of the Optimist Club of Mannheim and an instructor in the Junior Curler Program at the Ayr Curling Club. Aside from his father and daughter, Dennis was predeceased by his wife’s parents, Gordon and Jean Kemp, brother-in-law, Bill Weiss and his nephew, Bradley Hinz. Dennis will be sadly missed by his brothers and sister, Wayne and wife Gloria Hinz, Sharon Weiss, Larry and wife Lorie Hinz, John and wife Nancy Hinz. Also dear to many nieces and nephews. Friends and relatives may call at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron St., Stratford on Thursday, October 8 from 7-9 p.m. and on Friday, October 9 from 1-3 p.m. A memorial celebration will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 3:00 p.m. followed by a reception.
