AMDSB leak leads to review of security procedures

The Avon Maitland District School Board is reviewing its information security procedures after some student records were accidentally made available online.

The Board says some high school students from the 2008-2009 year had their achievement files, which contained some personal information, accessible for about five weeks.

An authorized Board staff member had mistakenly left a device connection open after transferring some files in early January.

The Board has notified the students affected and the Privacy Commissioner of Ontario.

It says it’s taking all necessary steps to prevent a similar incident from happening again.
