David George Wray

May 30, 1932 – December 14, 2015

Beloved husband of Joan Christie. David was born in Sarnia, Ontario and lived all his life in Stratford. Son of the late John James Wray and Catherine Campbell.  Son-in-law of the late Calvin and Gwen Christie. Proud father of Cory Orchard, Steve (Bonnie) Wray, and Gary (Jennifer) Wray. Step father to Darlene (Mark) Stewart, Sharon (John) Stewart and Harry (Renee) Stewart. Fondly remembered by 10 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  Dear brother of Jim (Connie) Wray, Evelyn Walker and Eileen Gillatly. Brother-in-law to Verna (Alex) Strathdee, Helen Christie, Jack (Betty Anne) Christie and Stan (Frebis) Christie. David was an elder at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Stratford for 49 years and he was involved with Scouting for 60 years. He was well known for running the Boy Scout Rifle Club on Friday evenings.  He worked at Kroehlers for almost 40 years, followed by semi-retirement at Canadian Tire. David will always be remembered for his infectious smile and friendly demeanor. He was a blessing to all who knew him.  Friends and relatives may call at the W. G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with Rev Hugh Jones officiating. Interment to follow in Avondale Cemetery.   As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Stratford Perth Hospice Project or St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church or to a charity of one’s choice through the funeral home. 519.271.7411 www.wgyougfuneralhome.com
