Beatrice Pearl Beighton, age 83, of Stratford passed away at Stratford General Hospital on December 15, 2015. Born in Ellice Township, she was the daughter of the late George Becker and the former Frieda Bahn. Beatrice enjoyed spending time with her neighbours, neighbourhood children and friends and treasured their companionship. Her friends and neighbours could always depend on receiving a laugh from one of her many jokes. She was a long time member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Stratford, where she taught Sunday school for a number of years. Beloved wife of F. Vernon Beighton, whom she married at the parsonage of First St. John’s Lutheran Church, Seebach’s Hill on March 8, 1952 and who predeceased her on December 10, 2005. Dear mother of Donelda Riley and husband Dan of Hawaii, John Beighton and wife Kelly of Nova Scotia and Joanne Overton and husband Mark of England. Loving grandmother of Peter and Rose Perry of London, Margaret Beighton of Sudbury, Emily Whalen of London, Morgan Overton of England, Andrea Idika and husband Odum of Waterloo and Nathan Sundercock and wife Esther of Listowel and her great-grandchildren Tristan and Maya Idika, Kayden and Carson Sundercock and Oscar and Marshall Whalen. Dear sister of Fern Becker and Grace Cottle both of Stratford. Also survived by brothers-in-law and sister-in-law Lyndon Beighton and wife Jean and Don MacDonald all of Fesserton and several nieces and nephews and their families. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a sister Ruby in infancy, a brother Lorne Becker and wife Audrey, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Melvin Cottle, Gordon Beighton and wife Goldie, Shirley MacDonald and John F. Beighton, nieces Heather Cottle and Sylvia Beighton and her father-in-law and mother-in-law Frederick and Winifred Beighton. Relatives and friends may call at the James A. Rutherford Funeral Home, 156 Albert Street, Stratford on Friday, December 18 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, December 19 at 11 a.m. Rev. Timothy Teuscher will officiate. Interment will be in Avondale Cemetery, Stratford.
