Dave Cliff Persad, age 56, died suddenly Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at University Hospital in London. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Barb (nee Scott) after 27 wonderful years of marriage and three sons, Dyer, James and Jared to whom he was a devoted and loving father. He also leaves behind his sister Deb (Barrie) and nieces, Eileen, Emma and Elly Furtney, his parents-in-law, Jim and Betty Scott, whom he loved like his own, sister-in-law Judy (Neil) and nieces Flora (Ben), Anne and Margaret Matheson and brother-in-law Brian Scott. Some of Dave’s family resides in Trinidad. His sister, Linda, twin nieces Kathy-Ann and Joanne and nephew Sean Hosein and sister Simlyn (Selwyn) and nieces Lauren and Trisha and nephew Sheldon Ali and brother Patrick Lum Yai, although far away, always close to Dave in his heart. Dave was predeceased by his parents Dyer and Eileen Persad and his brother-in law, Victor Hosein.  Dave was also blessed with a supportive and caring group of friends who have been there for him since high school; Larry and Barb Schoch, Steve Voros and Wendy Absolom, Pat White and Nancy Chung and Mike and Carol Salt. Dave was a red letter classically trained chef. He opted to work at the Stratford jail knowing that restaurant-life was not kind to families. He took much pride in mentoring his inmate helpers and was in turn respected for his caring leadership. He was very proud of his additional accomplishments at work. He was a Crisis Negotiator, Critical Incident Stress Management facilitator and more recently a Mediator within the Ministry of Corrections. Dave also enjoyed playing volleyball and until recently was an avid competitor. Above everything else, Dave’s family was the most important to him. Our family camping trips were the hi-light of our summers and Dave’s love for family and friends made our holiday celebrations memorable. Life without Dave will not be easy. As much as sadness and grief are overwhelming us, Dave always wanted us to celebrate his life, remembering our happy memories of time spent with him. On that note, please join us at W.G. Young Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm to celebrate Dave’s wonderful life and share your personal memories. Dave will live on through all of us. He has touched so many people in his much too short life. In memory of Dave, please consider making donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Epilepsy Canada, Stratford General Hospital or to LHSC University Hospital. Be at peace, my love. 519.271.7411 www.wgyoungfuneralhome.com
