Elder, Gertrude

Gertrude Madge Elder, age 97, of Stratford passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday January 29, 2016 at Spruce Lodge. Born in Goderich, daughter of the late Robert E. and Gertrude Mabel (Newcobe) Turner. Predeceased by her true love and best friend Jack Warman Elder February 3, 1967.   Loving and proud mother of Bill and his wife Linda Elder of Stratford. Loving grandmother of Shane (Joy) Elder, Sherry (Mark) Rowe and Corrine (Don) Robertson. Great grandmother Alicia (Steve) Empey, Jeff (Stephanie) Rowe, Trina (Scott) Herman, Carly Robertson, Harmony, Wynter and Kynda. Great great grandmother of Logan, Blake, Naomi, Brock and Payton. Aunt Madge will be remembered by her special nephew Robert and special nieces Janice, Jennifer, Kathi and Sherrill and families. Madge is survived by her sister-in-law Connie Turner and will be remembered by the entire Elder Family. Besides her husband, Madge was predeceased by her parents and brothers Roy Turner and wife Phyllis and Harold Turner. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Parsons for his many years of caring for Madge and her special conversations with him, to the CCAC for the home visits, the VON daycare program and all the lovely staff and friends at Spruce Lodge. She enjoyed you all and appreciated you immensely.  Friends and family may call at Spruce Lodge Chapel, 643 West Gore Street, Stratford on Tuesday February 2, 2016 from 2-4:00 p.m. The Funeral service will take place at St. Pauls Anglican Church, 9 Douro Street, Stratford on Wednesday February 3, 2016 at 11:00 am, with vitiation one our prior to funeral service. Interment to follow in Avondale Cemetery.
