Chessell, William

William Chessell, age 90, of Stratford and formerly of Rostock, Varna and Mitchell, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Februarys 9, 2016 at Spruce Lodge. Born in Mitchell, son of the late Wilfred and Mabel (Timms) Chessell. Survived by his true love and best friend of 70 years Mary (Jefferson) Chessell. Proud father of Don (Laurie), Paul (Sheila), Marion Kreuter (Steve), Brian (Nicole) and daughter-in-law Susan Chessell.  Grandfather of 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Survived by sisters-in-law Anita Chessell, Ruth Laing, Barbara Jefferson, Olive Riehl and Ina Laidlaw and husband Bill along with many nieces and nephews. The family would like to sincerely thank the entire staff at Spruce Lodge for the wonderful care and compassion shown to Bill. Bill was a long-time employee of Ontario Hydro. After his retirement Bill and Mary enjoyed many summers at their trailer in Powassan.  Besides his parents, William was predeceased by a son Norman (Dec 31, 2011), sisters Cora and Earl Harvey, Evelyn Chessell, Burnie and Homer Andrews, Helen Jenkin and brothers Bruce and June Chessell, Gordon Chessell, John Chessell and sisters and brothers-in-law Robert Laing, Margaret and Bruce Cleland, Don Riehl, Eva and Gordon Laing and  Laura and Charles La Forge. Friends and relatives may call at the W. G. Young Funeral Home 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Friday, February 12, 2016 from 6- 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service. Spring Interment in Zion United Church Cemetery (Rostock). In lieu of flowers and as expressions of sympathy memorial donations may be made to Spruce Lodge through the funeral home.
