Walter Leon Hansen, age 78, of Mitchell passed away peacefully at his residence on March 5, 2016. He was born in Stratford, February 12, 1938, son of the late Deus Coerteus (Crete) Hansen and the former Freida Greve. Beloved husband of Donna (Knight). Loving father of Krista Hansen-robitschek (roy) and Eric Hansen. Grandfather of Troy Hansen (Caitlin), Anna, Sarah and Joshua Hansen-robitschek. Brother of Lorne Hansen (Judy). Also survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law David Knight (Liz), Doris Seaton (Ken), Richard Knight (Sharon), Marie Brown (L. James), Audry Resh (Bob) and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Besides his parents, Wally was predeceased by sisters and brothers-in-law Shirley Davis (Tim), Irene MacPhail (Don), a sister Anna Mae in infancy and by a brother-in-law John Seaton. Wally was employed for many years at Kroehlers Furniture and later with the Stratford Festival Theatre for 17 years retiring as Operations Manager. Friends and relatives may call at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Thursday, March 10, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 2 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Emily Murphy Centre or the Huron/Perth Lung Association through the funeral home. 519.271.7411 www.wgyoungfuneralhome.com
