Kenneth John Switzer, age 81, passed away peacefully at the Bonnie Brae Health Care Centre, Tavistock on March 16, 2014. John was born in St. Marys, November 2, 1932, son of the late Percy and Freda Switzer. John farmed what is now the Queensland subdivision from 1954 until 1974 as well as snow plowing for the Stratford General Hospital and many factories, schools and churches in Stratford. In 1974 he joined Peter Hiller Realty and enjoyed the challenges of rural and urban sales. He invested in many properties throughout Perth, Huron, Grey and Bruce Counties. John was a member of St. John’s United Church, Stratford. He was predeceased by his first wife Laurine (Lindner) Player and by his second wife Irene Angulo. John is the loving father of Dianne Walkom and husband Brian, Grace Ferguson and husband Kevin. Grandfather of Elizabeth Jezard (Shawn), Rebecca Walkom (Ross Aldworth), Andrew Ferguson (Samantha Beneteau), Nicholas Ferguson, Curtis Ferguson. Dear brother of Jim Hosking (Joan), Peter (Audrey), Bill (Lorna), Ray (Sheila). Also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families. Friends and relatives may call at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Friday, March 21, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Michelle Down will officiate. Interment in Avondale Cemetery. A reception will follow in the funeral home reception centre.
