Irene Iola Glab

March 27, 1926 – March 15, 2016

Died peacefully at her home in New Hamburg.  Irene was born in Brunner 89 years ago, a daughter of the late Peter Jacobs and former Luella Wilhelm.  Beloved wife of the late Jozef Glab whom she married September 4, 1948 and who predeceased her October 15, 1992.  Cherished mother of Kathryn and her husband Bill Ritz of New Hamburg.  Loving  grandma of Jozef Ritz and Jen Vredeveld, and Jacob Ritz and Kate Bottoms.  Sister of Egbert Jacobs and wife Mary of Millbank.  Irene was predeceased by brothers Percy and Mary Jacobs, and Karl and Vivian Jacobs, and by sister-in-law Mildred Jacobs.

Irene was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, North Easthope Township where she was involved in many activities.  She enjoyed knitting and piecing quilts.

Visitation at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg, on Friday, March 18, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.  On Saturday, March 19, 2016 transfer will be made to St. James Lutheran Church for the funeral service at 11 a.m.  Pastor Barry Boekner officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. James Lutheran Church or the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 532, New Hamburg would be appreciated by the family.
