Wood, Harold

Harold Wesley Wood, Age 84, of Stratford passed away peacefully in Victoria Hospital, London. He was the son of the late Kenneth Wood and the former Margaret Rennick. He was the beloved husband of Lorraine (Weber) Wood who he married, October 15, 1988 at Main Street United Church, Mitchell. He was the nurturing father of Jim who predeceased him in 2011 and Jim’s wife Carol Wolfe of Tilbury, Sandra and her husband Jack Schauer of Stratford and Mark Wolfe and wife Tracy of Stratford. He will be fondly remembered by his nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Harold is survived by his sisters Ruth and husband Ray Grose, Marion Standish, Audrey Russell and his sister-in-law Judy Wood. Besides his mother and father he is predeceased by his brother Ross Wood and brothers-in-law John Standish and Howard Russell. Harold worked for the County of Perth for 50 years as a Road Grader Operator. He never took a single “sick day” during his tenure. He was proud of the job he did while he was aboard his Champion Grader.  Friends and relatives may call at the James A. Rutherford Funeral Home, 156 Albert Street, Stratford, on Thursday, April, 7 from 6-9 pm. A celebration of Harold’s life will take place at the funeral home on Friday, April 8 at 11:00 am. Rev. Tom Dunbar will officiate. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice through the funeral home by calling 519-271-5062.
