St. Marys Memorial Hospital is now closed to admissions. This comes after the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance announced earlier last week that an outbreak of a gastrointestinal illness hit the hospital.
While officials haven’t pinpointed the cause of the outbreak, they say it’s likely to be caused by a virus. Infection Control Practitioner Janice McIntyre says patients with the symptoms are being cared for in a separate area from patients who are not.
Visitors are still welcome but asked to follow posted instructions and visit only one patient.
