Edith Margaret (Schmidt) Wilker , 96, of Stratford passed away at Greenwood Court on April 6, 2014. She had resided at Greenwood for 17 years. She was born in North Easthope Township on June 18, 1917 she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Kardinga (Diehl) Schmidt. Edith worked at Kroehler Manufacting in Stratford as an upholstery sewer.  She was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Tavistock. Edith enjoyed travelling,  camping , square dancing, gardening  and sewing. When camping she and Carl often took one or two of their nieces and nephews with them. She married Carl Wilker on October 24, 1953. Carl predeceased her on February 7, 1991. Besides her husband and her parents she was predeceased by brothers Nelson (Mabel), Allan (Margaret) and Edmund Schmidt and by brothers-in-law Elmer Wilker, Carl (Catharine) Hohner. She is survived by sisters-in-law Beatrice Schmidt and Ellen Wilker and by brother-in-law Ken and Eleanore Wilker and by many nieces and nephews. As expressions of sympathy memorial donations may be made to the CNIB or Greenwood Court. Special thanks to Greenwood Court nurses, staff and volunteers and also a special family thanks to Robert Leifso. There will be no visitation. Cremation has already taken place. A memorial service will be held at Greenwood Court on April 12, 2014 at 11:00 am followed by a time of fellowship at Greenwood Court. Pastor Dan Kitch will officiate.
