Counterfeit money passed in St. Marys

Someone’s passing fake money in St. Marys.

The OPP says it’s recently responded to four separate calls about counterfeit bills being used at businesses in the Stone Town. Officers seized the phony notes, all of which were in the $100 denomination.

The OPP is reminding people that timely reporting of counterfeit money helps police find suspects. Business owners should be suspicious if large denomination bills are used for relatively small purchases.

If you know anything about this fake money you’re asked to call the Perth County OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or (519) 393-6123 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
