Racing Charges Laid in Mapleton

The Wellington County OPP says a 46-year-old Waterloo man has been charged with racing.

Police say officers clocked a vehicle going more than 140 kilometres per hour in an 80 zone on County Road 12 near Mapleton.

The OPP has been stepping up its public education when it comes to excessive speed and driver behaviour as roads get busier over the holidays and winter gets into full-swing.

Police say the man’s vehicle was seized and license suspended as he’ll be in a Guelph Court in the New Year.
