Dorothy Siberry

Dorothy (Do) Mae Siberry (nee Harris) died on January 27th, 2018 at the age of 88. Her spirit lives on. Born May 31, 1929 to the late Wilfred and Clara May (nee Sadler) Harris in Toronto. Beloved wife of Harold Kane Siberry for 65 years. Proud mother of the late John Robert (1970), Elizabeth Ruth (David Belanger), and Paul Frederick (Elaine Clark-Siberry), and Janet. Doting Dodo of Emma and Andrew Siberry Belanger. Dear sister-in-law of Joan Siberry and Jim and Judy Siberry. Dear aunt of many in whom she took great interest and pride.

Predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law Ruth and George Siberry, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Mervyn and Connie Siberry.

Do excelled in high school athletics at North Toronto where she won top female athlete. While attending Farmerette Camp during the war she developed a lifelong love of gardening. Do graduated as a registered nurse from the Hospital for Sick Children Toronto (1951) where she made many lifelong friends and went on to devote her life to nursing. She was instrumental in the establishment of the home care program in Perth County and later served on the board of directors of Community Care Access Centre Perth County.   With a keen mind for bridge, Do enjoyed the friendship and competition of her bridge clubs. She enjoyed the camaraderie of the sailing life at Bayfield and spent many evenings by the water at Bayfield River Cottage Colony. A lover of travelling, She was always eager for an adventure.

Do’s family is grateful for the excellent and compassionate care she received from Pat, Debbie, and the caregivers from Care Partners and OneCare over the past year, as well as the staff of Stratford General Hospital in her final days.

Visitation at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Saturday, February 10, from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:30 p.m. Reception will follow.
