The Avon Maitland District School Board is rolling out a new regional agriculture program for its students.

It’s part of the Additional Special High Skills Major Programs which upon ministry approval will be available to students in Perth and Huron counties.

The program runs for one semester and will focus on what happens to food as it’s harvested and processed, from farm to table.

Grants and bursaries will also be made available to improve access for students, not to mention connecting them with employers.

Mitchell District High School will be hosting the program, with the intent to begin offering it this fall.
