Dick Zorgdrager

Diederick Herman “Dick” Zorgdrager, age 85, of Stratford, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2018. Born in Ijmuiden, Holland, January 28, 1933, son of the late Cornelis and Jansje Zorgdrager.

Dick worked at Bell Canada for over 30 years until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church and served in retirement as administrator completing hundreds of hospital visits. He was involved as an executive with Rotary Y Hockey for many years.

Predeceased by his beloved wife Norah (Squire), cherished son Owen, infant grandson Thomas, brothers Cornelis and Albert and a sister Janneke. Dick is survived by his dear second wife Arlene (Weber) and her children. Loving father of Brent (Nancy), Alan (Susan) and Dale (Libby). Also fondly remembered by daughter-in-law Connie Zorgdrager. Cherished Papa of Bradley, Andrew (Emily), Hilary, Jane, Dean, Alanna, Trent, Lara, Luke, Emma and great grandson Noah. Dear brother of Oliver (Dorothy), Gerrit (Alie), Johanna, Hendrina, Marianne and Jansje. Also remembered by sister-in-law Louise Squire, Mauna Squire and many nieces and nephews.

Friends and relatives may call at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Wednesday, April 25, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. Pastor David Peterson will officiate. A reception will take place followed by interment at Avondale Cemetery.
