The Perth District Health Unit and the Huron County Health Unit are one step closer to amalgamating.
In a release, the PDHU says the two are proceeding with joining up after a funding request for amalgamation was approved by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
Perth County Medical Officer of Health Dr. Miriam Klassen says in a release that “this is a significant undertaking and represents an opportunity to better serve our communities together.”
A transition team made up of staff and board members from both boards of health will now lead the work of amalgamation with a completion date of January First 2020.
The two boards will stay in operation until a new amalgamation board is appointed.
