Finding out all about jobs and careers available in St.Marys.
That’s the idea behind a career and job fair taking place Thursday in the St.Marys District and Vocational Institute cafeteria and being put on by a partnership between the Town of St.Marys, the Township of South Perth and the Avon Maitland District School Board.
There are two sessions being put on, one from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. aimed at students and another from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. aimed at the general public, everyone is invited to attend during either time frame.
Deb Hotchkiss with Partners in Employment says a lot of people are often in the dark about the job opportunities available in St.Marys.
“I am totally surprised all the time when I run into people and they say ‘oh I drive such and such to go to work’ and I say why don’t you work in town and they say ‘there’s no jobs’, it’s like really we have some great jobs in town but if you’re not looking for work you don’t know about them.”
Employers who will be at the event include Tim Hortons, the Town of St.Marys and BBQ Feast Catering.
