Photo supplied by Stratford Fire Department. A ban is now in effect on all open air fires requiring a permit in the City of Stratford. The city sent out a press release Monday afternoon announcing the ban which they say doesn’t include outdoor recreational fire pits. They say the ban will remain in effect until further notice and they say it’s being issued because of the extreme dryness of all of the vegetation in the city. Farmers operating within city limits are being encouraged to exercise extreme caution with combining, as field fires can quickly overtake equipment and neighboring crops. All burning permits in the City of Stratford are now suspended with no permits issued until the ban is lifted.
