Advocacy group upset over cancellation of fund for school repairs

A education advocacy group says a move by the new Ontario government will hurt schools and students across the province.

Stephen Seaborn of the Campaign for Public Education says school budgets were never considered before the Tory government cancelled a $100 million fund for school repairs.

The cut is a result of Premier Doug Ford’s campaign promise to scrap the province’s cap-and-trade system.

School boards were notified last week that the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund would be eliminated and that only work contracted on or before that date would be covered
