Stratford being warned that it wont escape impact of cutbacks to health care

Stratford’s hospital and patients will not escape the impact of cutbacks.

That’s according to the Ontario Council of Hospital Unions who say the cutbacks resulting from the combination of 4 per cent spending cuts, $7 billion in tax cuts and a drive for a balanced budget, all promised by the Ontario PC’s, will lead to even larger cuts looming with restructuring and privatization factored in.

A new report tiled ‘Hallway Medicine: It Can Be Fixed” is being released by the council in Stratford on Tuesday.

The OCHU, which is the hospital division of the Canadian Union of Public Employees, says they have crunched the numbers on three key Ford promises and forecasts their impact on many community hospitals across the province including the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance.

The PC government vowed to put an end to what’s known as “hallway medicine” during the lead up to the election in June.
