We are learning more about the second person to throw their hat into the ring to be mayor in Stratford.
Tom Drake is a life long resident and the third generation of his family to live in the city and he has run, along with his brother, Drake and Drake Dental on Ontario Street for the last 35 years.
Drake filed his nomination papers to seek the position on Tuesday with his only competitor at this point being incumbent Dan Mathieson who is seeking his fifth term as mayor.
Drake says he decided to run because he feels the city is going face challenges from global economic condition and global events over the next few years.
“I think somebody that’s been in for four terms needs a little bit of competition, at least to keep him on his toes, I think that I can provide a different spark that I can set in city hall and in council to have a little change in pace.”
The deadline to file nomination papers to run in the election is Friday at 2 p.m.
