A new affordable housing development is coming to Stratford’s former Fairgrounds property.
At a special meeting Thursday night, city council awarded a contract worth over $4 million to PM Contracting Limited for the Britannia Street project.
Construction is expected to begin later this year on a 35-unit, two storey apartment building with enhanced accessibility features.
Final approval of the project is subject to confirmation of the receipt of funding from senior government levels.
A combination of one and two-bedroom units will be available in the development which will be owned and managed by the City of Stratford.
A second building, consisting of 20 units, is expected to start construction in 2020 as part of a planned second phase.
