Enrollment trending up at elementary level for the Avon Maitland District School Board

Enrollment at the elementary level for the Avon Maitland District School Board continues to trend up.

Board Treasurer Cheri Carter says that after the first week of classes there are around 100 more students enrolled at the elementary level for the board this school year over what was projected last June.

She says that’s a trend that has been seen the last few years and comes after a few years of declining enrollment.

As for the secondary level, Carter says they aren’t seeing the same story just yet.

“We are, as of right now, we’re kind of tracking at estimate which is good but there will be a lot of movement in the next two weeks.”

Carter adds that the board has opened an online registration tool that makes it easier to track those that are enrolling in their schools.
