A new committee will aim to address concerns between the police and those living in Perth South.
As we get closer to next Monday, the day Stratford Police take over patrolling Perth South from the Ontario Provincial Police, a new community policing advisory committee is being formed that will be made up of Mayor Robert Wilhelm, one councilor and three members of the public and will meet monthly beginning in January.
This is the first time a committee like this has been in place in Perth South and applications to join the committee as one of the three community member positions are available at the township’s office in St.Pauls or on the township’s website.
Perth South Administrator and Treasurer Rebecca Clothier says the committee will play a very important role.
“Committee members would receive reports from the police service in regards to the policing that has occurred and monitor performance, coordinate events with the police and then also educate the public about crime prevention and other similar programs.”
The deadline to apply to join the committee is November 14th.
