The former fairgrounds entrance in Stratford could soon be designated a heritage site.
During the City of Stratford Planning and Heritage Committee meeting Tuesday night, members voted unanimously to issue a notice of intention to designate the gates, gate posts, fieldstone pylon holding a flagpole and commemorative plaque under the Ontario Heritage Act.
The idea to do so first arose at a Heritage Stratford meeting in September and stemmed from a request from the Stratford-Perth Archives which was made in 2012.
The site is located at 24 Glastonbury Drive in Stratford.
