Police: Stratford woman charged after trying to take advantage of intellectually disabled man

A Stratford woman faces charges after police say she tried to take advantage of an intellectually disabled man.

Just after 6 p.m. Wednesday, police say they received information about the whereabouts of a person they were looking for.

Officers were able to find 22-year-old Jerica Coughlin when they stopped a vehicle in the city and she was arrested.

A warrant had been issued for Coughlin for Fraud under $5-thousand back on October 4th after police say she and another woman had asked a victim to cash a cheque for them worth $650.00.

Police say Coughlin told the man that her account was frozen and offered to share a portion of the money with him as a birthday gift.

The victim later learned that the cheque was fraudulent and he owed the bank $650 with police contacted and one woman arrested shortly after and Coughlin arrested Wednesday.
