Stratford Police holding R.I.D.E. programs throughout the area

Stratford Police are watching closely for impaired drivers over the holiday season.

With lots of parties and get-togethers taking place leading up to and over the holidays, police are holding R.I.D.E. programs and stopping drivers to make sure they haven’t had too much to drink and that they aren’t impaired by other substances.

This is the first year that Stratford Police are conducting the programs in Perth South and St.Marys since they started patrolling those areas a short time ago.

Stratford Police Constable Dave Stewart says everyone needs to make sure they are putting safety first when getting behind the wheel.

“You lose your license for a year and a fine and your insurance rises, you can’t afford it, it could be $1000, you could lose your license for a year.”

If you see someone you believe to be driving while impaired, police say you should call 911 right away.
