New leadership officially in place for the Stratford Police Service

It’s a new day for the Stratford Police Service.

Even though they began in their new positions back on October 8th, Greg Skinner and Gerry Foster were only officially sworn into their roles as Police Chief and Deputy Police Chief at a ceremony on Tuesday at Stratford City Hall.

Both took the oath of office with each delivering remarks with Chief Skinner saying that he’s humbled and honoured to become the 18th chief in the history of the Stratford Police and that he never thought he would have the opportunity to serve in Stratford where he was born and raised.

Chief Skinner joined the Ontario Provincial Police and spent time in locations across the province and he says he’s happy to be back home.

“It’s been an eye opener to come back to Stratford because when I left it thirty plus years ago it was a different place than it is now, but in many respects, it’s very much the same place that I left and the people are the same and everybody has been very good.”

He adds the most exciting part of the position for him is being a part of the Stratford Police team and knowing that they can make any changes to policing in the area that they feel will make for a better force.
