Stratford Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign nearing goal

The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign in Stratford is nearing its goal.

Organizers say that, as of last weekend, they have raised $83-thousand which is getting close to their goal of $118-thousand with the money raised going towards helping those in need in our area, not only at Christmas but throughout the year.

To help the campaign get closer to its goal, RBC is matching all donations made Wednesday, up to $1-thousand at the Walmart in Stratford.

On Saturday, Scotiabank is matching all donations up to $15-thousand made at the Stratford Sobeys, Zehrs, Food Basics, Walmart and the downtown LCBO.

Major David Braye with the Salvation Army Stratford says it means a lot for larger businesses to step in and help.

“It certainly indicates that these major, national, financial institutions have a great trust in us, our footprint in Canada of 130-135 years, our helping people, has stood the test of time.”

The campaign runs until next Monday.
